We'd like to thank everyone who attended Doug Nichols's solo exhibition The Fantasy Worlds of Doug Nichols at AS220 Project Space last month! It was an historic show for Doug and for Top Drawer, with Doug's towering, floating sculptures taking over the gallery and creating a show that the Providence Phoenix's Greg Cook called "a masterpiece." Thanks to all those who saw the show, and thanks AS220!
The winter season rolls on, and it's heartening to know that at the very least there is good local art to see. Check out Top Drawer's latest exhibition, currently hanging at Central Congregational Church in Providence's historic East Side. Join us there for the reception on Friday, Feb. 28, 5:30-7:30 pm, 296 Angell St., Providence (note that the entrance to the gallery is on the right side of the church on Diman St.!) Top Drawer artists featured in this exhibition are Roy Santos, David Toste, Livy Young, Kyle Komiega, Wendy LeBeau, Emmet Estrada, Steven Karnes, Dominic Cabral, Toni Vollaro, Katrina Cathcart and Nick Taylor.
In March and April, Top Drawer will again participate in the annual Paul V. Sherlock Memorial Art Show organized by VSA Arts RI and held at the Atrium Gallery, One Capitol Hill, Providence. There are always surprises at this remarkable show, which features the talents of amazing artists with disabilities from across Rhode Island. This year Top Drawer will feature brand new work by eighteen artists: Anthony Brum, Stefanie Aubin, Emmet Estrada, Roy Santos, David Toste, Livy Young, Kyle Komiega, Steven Karnes, Kayla Buja, Martha Canning, Toni Vollaro, Johnny McKenna, Wendy LeBeau, Brian Novasad, Brian Lamora, Theresa Medeiros, Nick Taylor and Doug Nichols. Public reception, which includes live music and refreshments, is Tuesday, March 25th, 12-1:30 pm.
That's all for now. Be sure to check out these events before we start a busy summer season with the kickoff of Top Drawer Art At The Brass's new Art Night Exhibition series and large new group exhibition at Barrington Public Library, all coming this May!
