Thanks to all who made it out to last week’s Art Night, and the Public Reception for Matching Colors: Drawings by Kyle Komiega and Toni Vollaro here at Top Drawer Art At The Brass! It was another great turnout despite some inclement weather, with folks still riding the Art Night trolleys and coming out in force to show their support for the local arts community, and having a great night out in the process.
If you missed the show, never fear, because this next Art Night looks to be equally spectacular. Here at Top Drawer, we’ve switched out our monthly exhibition, and you can visit now to see the new show Explosions Of Color: New Work by Katrina Cathcart and Brian Lamora. These two artists are Top Drawer’s original success stories, with both having work included in the Intuit: The Center For Intuitive and Outsider Art’s permanent collection in Chicago, along with such Outsider Art greats such as Henry Darger, Bill Traylor, and Martin Ramirez (check out Intuit at www.art.org). In addition to that historical distinction, Katrina’s work has been featured in Providence Art Windows and in a three-year touring exhibition organized by VSA Arts and originating at the Dillon S. Ripley Center at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., and Brian’s work was included in Intuit’s 20th Anniversary Exhibition Architectures of Hope: The Treasures of Intuit, curated by renowned author and filmmaker Roger Manley. These two have clearly gained international recognition, and pairing that with the fact that their work is so meticulously constructed that it is very, very rare, this show is a must-see! Visit now to put your red dot on a piece of history, and if not we’ll see you at the next Art Night!
